GMV and sales

Gross merchandise value generally represents the value of merchandise sold within the platform’s reporting definition. It should not automatically be described as cash received or net profit. Adjustments, cancellations and reporting cutoffs can differ across sources.

Gross versus net profit

Gross profit depends on the costs included in the report, often sales less cost of goods. Net profit generally reflects additional expenses. Always disclose the accounting assumptions and whether refunds, advertising, fulfillment and overhead were included.

Do not mix periods

A February–April Seller Center window is not the same as a January–March calendar quarter. Combining them into a single margin calculation can be misleading. Label start and end dates next to every KPI.

Build a repeatable dashboard

Track sales, orders, units, returns, COGS, marketplace fees, fulfillment, advertising and other expenses. Reconcile settlements against order activity and flag missing costs. Zerora Solutions emphasizes transparent, period-matched reporting for operational decisions.
